Does it ever snow in Provence? I am often asked this by my lovely guests who come to cook with me at Cuisine de Provence . Well, here is the answer - this is the view that greeted me this morning when I opened the window. After having had lunch outside until just two days ago now we are experiencing a real bad cold spell - icy Mistral winds and probably the earliest snow in Provençal history!
I can't believe it!! there is the table where we sat ... what is happening to the world's weather?
ReplyDeleteHello Claudia,
Deleteit is crazy, isn't it? Hope you have nicer weather in Istanbul.
The question has been answered...it does indeed snow in Provence. The Northeast part of the U.S. is bracing for a freak storm. A hurricane that is colliding with a artic blast of air.
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
Velva
You too, Velva - stay warm and safe.
Deletei love snow so this would have made me very happy! we are about to be blown off continent! hurricane sandy is headed straight for us and we are supposed to get 80 mph winds and 6-8 inches of rain!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope with all my heart that you will stay warm and safe and that that storm will die down real fast.
DeleteI hope not that often, or in great quantities. Still, our imagination takes us to a warm climate, snow or not.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Rosaria - in my dreams I am on a real nice warm sunny beach right now....
DeleteWow, Weather is making its fiercer side felt in lots of places right now. We have had unseasonably warm weather until last night when the winds starting howling and the effects of Hurricane Sandy appeared. Its supposed to snow here in NC tomorrow. Earthquake in BC. Hawaii warned of Tsunami. But your snow looks pretty.
ReplyDeleteHope you stay safe and that the hurricane passed you by!
DeleteI love Sablet and our corner of Provence but happy to miss the snow so early in the year. If we are there at Christmas, let it snow.
ReplyDeleteHi Michel, you had a narrow escape from our snow - but it has already all melted away now.
DeleteIt is freezing! We had no snow here but it is very very cold. I love your photo!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, that is a surprise!! We are expecting some arctic weather, so I know what you mean. Looks so wonderful though Barbara :) Hope you stay warm and enjoy the view!
ReplyDeleteGosh! What a surprise getting snow already! It is cold a bit everywhere in Europe. So early this year!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing, and here I am complaining about all the rain we have had, better that than snow!! Keep warm Diane
ReplyDeleteWow! I sure hope that's not an indication of the winter you're going to have.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a surprise and such beautiful image ~ I hope it didn't disrupt plans.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I know it did not... :) It looks so lovely !
Barbara, what a surprise. Our weather in the Cote d'Azur area was lovely. We had some exceptionally warm days in Nice, Monaco, St. Tropez, but also 2 days of rain where we simply caught up on some rest. Our last 3 days in Paris were cool. Only several hours of rain, but it was so perfect. Will be getting my photos together and start blogging next week. Sorry we missed you. Susan
ReplyDeleteThe earth is certainly changing right before our very eyes!
ReplyDeleteWhere are you in Provence? We haven't gotten any snow here in Aix yet although last winter was a big bummer. Heading back to Minnesota for a couple of months so I'll get my fill!
